The Denver Office of Strategic Partnerships (DOSP) was founded to serve as a bridge between the City of Denver and the non-profit sector. The agency focuses on building individual skills and tools for non-profit and City agency staff in order to encourage the creation of cross-sector partnerships. 

Cividesk recently spoke with Miriam Pena, director of the DOSP and Jason Salas, who handles marketing, media and communications within the organization about their experiences implementing and using CiviCRM.

Spark Inside

A new member of our Giving Back program
 

Spark Inside is an innovative new charity supporting young people in the criminal justice system to create more meaningful and productive futures through professional life coaching. Our pilot program was met with significant success; an independent evaluation of our one-to-one coaching program with 8 teenage boys leaving prison showed that one year after they had been released, the re-offending rate was 12.5%, compared to the national average of 70%. We have now worked with over 600 young people in prison.
 

Italy-America Chamber of Commerce

Founded in New York in 1887, the Italy-America Chamber of Commerce (IACC) is an independent, private, not-for-profit US Corporation devoted to fostering trade, tourism, investments and economic cooperation between Italy and the United States. The Chamber brings together individual entrepreneurs, as well as businesses advancing the interests of its members through contact and interaction with government agencies, trade associations and international organizations both in the United States and in Italy.

Security, migration and automation

CiviCRM 4.4.11 was released on December 17 to correct a security vulnerability in the CiviCase component and several other minor issues. As usual, all our customers have been upgraded to this latest version within hours of its release.

In December, we also migrated our Google authentication backend from OpenID / OAuth to the new OAuth2 protocol. This change has been completely transparent to our customers with no changes in the user interface or service interruptions.

French-Mexican Chamber of Commerce

Improving Member Loyalty with CiviCRM
 

The French-Mexican Chamber of Commerce promotes business development between France and Mexico by offering services to their members and the community and coordinating events which strengthen French-Mexican business alliances. The Chamber began using CiviCRM in the summer of 2013 as a new Cividesk customer.

Julie Riotte, director of the Chamber, and Hajer Najjar, assistant director, recently spoke with Cividesk about their experiences.

emPower Central Coast

Using CiviCRM to better understand emPower's impact in the community
 

EmPower Central Coast is an organization that was created to help homeowners in the County of Santa Barbara make energy saving improvements to their homes. The emPower program facilitates home upgrade projects by making them more affordable through incentives, financing, qualified contractors and expert energy advice through visits from an “energy coach”. These visits provide tangible ways for the homeowner to save energy and lower their monthly utility bills. The organization recently partnered with the counties of Ventura and San Luis Obispo in Northern California to expand and serve homeowners in the tri-county region.

National Hispanic Voter Educational Foundation

Putting CiviCRM to the test: Managing a database of 600,000 contacts
 

The National Hispanic Voter Educational Foundation (NHVEF) was created to encourage, inform and enable individuals in the Hispanic community to appreciate the importance of voting and to consistently exercise this privilege. This non-partisan foundation is dedicated to helping individuals find their voice in order to make a positive impact on themselves, their family and the community. NHVEF also manages a call center to reach out to the Hispanic community and engage them in this goal through a voter pledge.
