As part of the server migration done on August 22 we upgraded several infrastructure software to newer version. This provided us with additional security settings, and it wasn't before long that our engineers started playing with these new settings to see if we could enhance our security even further.
And .. we got a A+. Not only that, but all our customers also get the same A+ by being hosted on our servers!
Cividesk will perform an infrastructure upgrade on the following dates and time:
San Francisco: Friday Aug 21, 9:00pm to Saturday Aug 22, 1:00am
Denver: Friday Aug 21, 10:00pm to Saturday Aug 22, 2:00am
New York: Saturday Aug 22, 12:00am to 4:00am
Paris: Saturday Aug 22, 6:00am to 10:00am
Dubai: Saturday Aug 22, 8:00am to 12:00pm
Kuala Lumpur: Saturday Aug 22, 12:00pm to 4:00pm
After more than 3 years being hosted at Rackspace, we have decided to move to Amazon in order to gain operational flexibility, launch new services and be able to better serve our international customer base. We will be busy planning and executing this move over the next couple of weeks. As always, these changes will be totally transparent for all of our customers and performed at nighttime in your local time zone as to not impact your operations. Just look forward to improved services and additional offerings in the short term!
We have deepened our integration between the desk and Drupal. Our Drupal customers can now log into their Drupal website through the Single-Sign On provided by cividesk, which means they can log in with their Google account, regular email account or any other authentication means we support. This is another step towards implementing our vision of providing a single, unified, fully managed environment for managing nonprofit organizations.
CiviCRM 4.4.11 was released on December 17 to correct a security vulnerability in the CiviCase component and several other minor issues. As usual, all our customers have been upgraded to this latest version within hours of its release.
In December, we also migrated our Google authentication backend from OpenID / OAuth to the new OAuth2 protocol. This change has been completely transparent to our customers with no changes in the user interface or service interruptions.
Have you ever wished all the phone numbers in your database would be correctly formatted according to the country's and international standards? That all the names - first, last and company - would be correctly capitalized, including local language specifics and common abbreviations? And more importantly ... that this would be done auto-magically for you whenever new data is added to CiviCRM?
All our customers have now been updated to CiviCRM 4.4.10, which is the latest LTSversion available. This version corrects a few issues, including some that directly affected a few of our customers. As always, please contact us with any questions or to report any issue with CiviCRM so we can address these as diligently as possible.
We have moved to new SSD-based servers which do deliver additional performance for all our customers. This move has been completely transparent for our Standalone customers. Our Drupal, Wordpress and Joomla customers will have to make a minor change in their DNS. We will get back to you individually with further instructions.
