Kiva update and $50 gift card giveaway
A few months ago we announced the creation of the Cividesk fund on Kiva and promised to give you regular updates on our progress.
All of our customers get an A+!
As part of the server migration done on August 22 we upgraded several infrastructure software to newer version. This provided us with additional security settings, and it wasn't before long that our engineers started playing with these new settings to see if we could enhance our security even further.
And .. we got a A+. Not only that, but all our customers also get the same A+ by being hosted on our servers!
The Cividesk fund on Kiva
Cividesk has created a fund on Kiva.org. This fund serves to finance microloans to people around the world living in high poverty areas. Most of these people do not have access to traditional banking systems. By lending them money to purchase land, livestock, tools or items to sell needed to build or expand their business, or giving them the chance to pursue higher studies, we are giving them a chance to escape poverty.
Infrastructure Upgrade
Cividesk will perform an infrastructure upgrade on the following dates and time:
San Francisco: Friday Aug 21, 9:00pm to Saturday Aug 22, 1:00am
Denver: Friday Aug 21, 10:00pm to Saturday Aug 22, 2:00am
New York: Saturday Aug 22, 12:00am to 4:00am
Paris: Saturday Aug 22, 6:00am to 10:00am
Dubai: Saturday Aug 22, 8:00am to 12:00pm

CiviCon Denver videos available
If you did not have the opportunity to attend CiviCon Denver - or even if you did - there is wonderful news: the videos for most of the sessions are now available on the CiviCRM YouTube channel.
Organization for Transformative Works
The Organization for Transformative Works (OTW) is a nonprofit organization established by fans to serve the interests of fans by providing access to and preserving the history of fanworks and fan culture in its myriad forms. The OTW represents a practice of transformative fanwork historically rooted in a primarily female culture. The OTW will preserve the record of that history as we pursue our mission while encouraging new and non-mainstream expressions of cultural identity within fandom.
My event is limited to a certain number of attendees. How can I ensure an accurate participant count?
Configure a price set for the fees instead of using the Regular Fees section of the Fees configuration for your event page.
Existing price sets are found under:
Events>Manage Price Sets. To create a new Price Set, you can click on Events>New Price Set. Give the price set a name and designate that it will be used for Events and choose the default financial type "Event Fee".
Once the price set has been saved, you will then need to add the price fields displaying the different options for your event.
CiviCON 2015 in Denver a success!
With over 150 people in attendance, CiviCON Denver provided informative sessions, great people, and effective networking with the Civi community all while having fun in an enjoyable atmosphere at the Cable Center building in Denver, CO. What could be better?
Sprint session in the Rocky Mountain
If it is ever possible to make a lot of progress working while being completely relaxed at the same time, this was it! CiviCON Denver was immediately followed by a Sprint session located in a stunning and serene environment in Rocky Mountain National Park. Participants worked hard on coding and documentation for CiviCRM, including efforts in translations. Their work was balanced with community building and outdoor adventures. What a fabulous way to support the progress of CiviCRM!
